There was a really good article discussing recruiting digital talent posted on creativity online recently. It’s definitely worth a read.
This is something that I have been very interesting to me for awhile. Our team has been growing at the office and we’ve brought in a lot of new talent. I know that the excitement of working for a start-up is present in each candidate we interview. I know that excitement very well. I’ve done the start-up route and the agency route. Both certainly have their benefits.
Right now I am enjoying the agency life but it comes with its challenges. Making sure to be as billable as possible requires that I stay current outside of work. This is fairly easy for me because I love working in the industry. It’s easy for me to come home and toy with some new tricks or just read blogs. I know that is not as easy for everyone though. I am sure most people want to leave the computer behind after a day at the office. That is completely understandable.
That is why I encourage our employees to learn new technologies during our downtime. There isn’t much of it but I believe it’s crucial to creating a innovative agency. That is just the tip of the iceberg though. Building an effective agency model for digital talent is difficult but I feel is crucial to being that cutting edge agency.
